In Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, you can do shopping downtown whenever you want or if you prefer, you can enjoy traditional markets near the camping Riez à la vie on thursdays and sundays in the city centre.

In Sion-sur-Océan Tuesdays and Thursdays and in Mouettes from July 1st to August 31st on Monday, Saturday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon.

Nearby, you can find villages typically "Vendéen" to do errands. These are Croix de Vie on Wednesdays and Saturdays, in Brétignolles-sur-Mer on Thursdays and Sundays and also on Tuesdays in July and August.

In Saint-Gilles on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Brem-sur-Mer on Tuesdays in July and August and Friday in all seasons.

In Saint-Jean-de-Monts market days are Mondays and Thursdays in July and August you can do your shopping through the Avenue de la Plage and every morning during the same season on the Avenue des Demoiselles.

The Camping Riez à la vie is located in the department of Vendée, in western France. This part of the country is a dream destination, original and charming within a natural and calm atmosphere. Vendée is the treasure trove of nice places to visit all the way to its boundaries in the Ré island and Noirmoutier island.

Make the most of cities and charming small towns of this unique region:

-Fontenay-le comte: a sub-prefecture, city of art and history it played an important role during the "Guerre des cents ans",( war of one hundred years), a hard time in British history.

-Le Puy du Fou: it needs no introduction, an unique place to enjoy amazing shows of medieval battles, from mid-April to late September.

Saint-Gilles Croix de Vie: seaside resort, departure city for Yeu Island on a ferry (31 km) from April to September. At the Camping Riez à la vie, campers may obtain special rates.

-The Passage du Gois: tidal causeway, it relies the Atlantic coastline to the Noirmoutier island, only passable at low tide either on foot, car or bike, it is flowed twice a day. One of the longest causeways of France (the amplitude of its immersion is remarkable, depending on the tide, water depth varies from 1 to 4 meters).

-La Roche-sur-Yon, Prefecture of Vendée, it's also a Napoleonic town, actually the only city in the world created by Napoleon.

-Saint Hilaire de Riez facing the Atlantic Ocean, the Yeu Island, it has 13 km of stunning coastline and salty air, near a pine forest, this seaside resort will delight you with its enchanting landscapes. You can also enjoy visiting the Marais Poitevins, known as the Green Venice, or for those less adventurous, fishing shrimps or other shellfish at low tide.

Nearby the Camping Riez à la Vie you can start learning and practice sand yachting.

A holiday voucher, a certificate to complete? Leave the paperwork on Monday and they will be ready the day before your departure.

Access control: For your own security within the campsite Riez à la vie, driving, entry and/or exit of all vehicles is allowed only from 7:30 am to 10:30 pm.... A gate pass will be issued upon your arrival and it will be strictly personal. All campers must present their card to entry, even if the gate is open, and also to exit. Otherwise, the anti-pass back (input to output), will block your card.

Reminder: only one vehicle is allowed per site.


Enjoying family vacation !: Family vacations on the Atlantic coast

Household waste: at the campsite's entrance there is a garbage storage area, as well as bins for waste separation, either glass, plastic, cardboard or newspapers ... Smaller bins are located at the area of toilet and shower facilities are exclusively for cleaning and/or toiletries waste for better hygiene and convenience.

At the Campsite Riez à la vie you will find drying racks instead of a clothesline on the trees. (It's healthier and more respectful of nature.)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAMPING RIEZ A LA VIE

Each booking is personal and you can not transfer or resell your booking. Customer and all members of your holiday bind to comply with the campsite regulations.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY FOR RENTED ACCOMMODATION

The maximum number of occupants is 6, 5 or 4 persons per rental (children included) according to the hired accommodation (maximum occupancy 6, 5 or 4 persons) as well as one vehicle per site. The information given by the customer are the basis for calculating. Any extra person (beyond the maximum occupancy of an accommodation ) has to be declared upon arrival increasing the payable amount of the stay. Please note that any inaccurate declaration or any changes to your holiday being able to involve a variation of the payable amount of the stay, will end the agreement and declare the contract null and void, except with the manager's agreement. Any rupture of the contract by the customer involves a sum equal to 30% of the entire payable amount of the stay is due to the manager.

RATES

The payable amount of the stay is calculated according to the tariff established for the current season. In the absence of this tariff, the precedent is used as a basis and the rectification is made 4 weeks before the arrival date. As a result of increased government taxation or the VAT one (currently at 5.5%) we reserve ourselves the right to apply a surcharge to your booking. Facilities included in the price of your stay: water, electricity, 1 parking place, access to the indoor and outdoor swimming-pool, entertainment is provided on-site. Except: booking fees 25 €, tourist tax, cancellation guarantee (optional, 25 € per week), launderette and entertainment and leisure activities organised outside the campsite.

BOOKING MODES OF PAYMENT

Important : the invoice will be issued in the same name given while booking. Booking is valid only upon receipt of the down payment. Any reservevation has to be accompanied of a payment equal to the 30 % of the total payable amount of the stay, the ID card of person in charge of the stay and the car's registration document of the vehicle entering to the camping park. Payment is done by check, mandate, credit card, holiday checks and cash. The balance of the stay has to be paid 4 weeks before your arrival. If you are booking less than 4 weeks before your arrival, you have to pay the total amount of your stay when booking. Your booking is valid only after receipt of the balance of the stay and the guarantees. If the total payment of the stay is not received within the allowed delays the campsite is able to consider that the booking is cancelled.

GUARANTEES

The material of each rental is subject to quantified inventory. The customer binds to control it upon arrival and in the event you notice damage in your accommodation please report it to reception before the following day midday. We ask you the following guarantees : 250 € for each hired accommodation, 100 € for housekeeping, 30 € for the barrier card, 5 € per wristband. These fees have to be paid at the time you pay the balance of the payable amount of the stay, within 4 weeks before your arrival. These deposits for eventual damages are given back after the final check out the departure day.
Important : all deposits are accepted only by credit card. (16 digits credit card number + 3 digits of the cryptogram + expiration date). Housekeeping has to be done by the customer before leaving. At the end of the stay, a check out of the hired accommodation is done, the rental must be restored totally clean inside et within the immediate surroundings otherwise, the housekeeping guarantee of 100 € is due to the manager.

ARRIVALS

Upon arrival, you must present yourself at the reception of the campsite with the definitive booking confirmation that you will receive by mail after the total payment of the balance of the stay. If you expect to arrive after 8:00pm during the high season, or 6:00pm in low season, please let us know about it. Unless the camping is previously notified the camping's manager keeps the right of giving the site to someone else, after 24 hours of the envisaged arrival date. When your stay has started, the total paid amount will be forfeited by the camping, no reduction will be approved for an early departure or delayed arrival.

MINORS

The minors not accompanied with a parent are not accepted.

FACILITIES AND ENTERTAINMENT

The gates of the camping are open from 7:30 am to 11:30 pm. Reception welcomes you, in low season from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 3:00 am to 6:30 pm from Monday to Saturday and on Sundays from 9:30 to 12:30 pm and from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

In July and August you benefit daily of :

swimming-pools are open daily from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Only appropiate swimming attire is permitted, that means, fitted tight swimming wear, no tee-shirts, football shorts, etc.We accept no responsibility and no refunds will be given if pool facilities may be affected or be unavailable due to bad weather conditions or other unexpected circumstances beyond our control.

DOGS AND OTHER PETS

Most pets are welcome in our camping, but they must always be kept on a lead under the control of a responsible adult at all times except dogs of 1st cateogry considered as as "dogs of attack" (pit bulls) and the dogs of 2nd category (rottweiller) which are not allowed for the safety of all the campers. You have to send us a copy of your pet's health record as well as its tattoo number before your arrival. For the well being of all campers, please note that pets are not allowed in all our holiday facilities.

CANCELLATION GUARANTEE

Against cancellation you will still owe us:

If we receive your written cancellation more than 30 days before the arrival date, a 30% of holiday cost.

If we receive your written cancellation less than 30 days before the arrival date: the whole cost of your holiday. Weekend bookings : reservations 15 days before the arrival date, a sum of 25 € will be forfeited. Within 15 days and your arrival date, then the whole cost of your holiday will be forfeited. No reduction will de approved for early departure of the customer.
Cancellation guarantee : 25 € per week. Minimum allowance : 25 €. This amount is payable when booking. This plan guarantees an extra peace of mind, you will be entitled to a full refund of all holiday monies paid, except the booking fees and the cost of the cancellation guarantee. Valid in the case of sickness or serious accident, bereavement occurred before the arrival date, you have to send the corrresponding written proof, by registered mail within 3 days. If you wish to suscribe to the Cancellation guarantee, do not forget to mark the case on the booking contract.

RENTED ACCOMMODATION

It is strictly forbidden to set a tent up on a mobil-home pitch, chalet or bungalow. In low season : rentals are made either per night or per week (days, hours of arrivals and departures are to be planned with the booking service of the campsite). Arrivals are from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm Departures by 6:00pm according to our timetable. In peak season (July and august) : rentals are made for a minimum length of 7 nights. It is possible to arrive on Wednesday or Saturday from 4:00 pm onwards. Departures are possible on Wednesday or Saturday before 10:00 am.

TOURING AND CAMPING PITCHES

Camping pitches are rented : In low season : per night. In peak season (July and August) : per week from Sunday to Sunday. On the day of your arrival, pitches are available from 12:00pm onwards. Departures before 12:00 pm.

LIABILITY

You MUST be covered by a third-part liability travel insurance. Signing the booking contract implies that the terms of this agreement bind you to be aware of and accept the whole of this agreement and the obligations contained in it. Any litigation not arranged in a friendly manner will be brought to justice to the court of Les Sables d'Olonne.

The Camping Riez à la vie is set in Saint-Hilaire de Riez in the department of Vendée, a region in west central France by the Atlantic Ocean. Next to the camping there is a beautiful forest, typical of this area and then (at about 1 km) you will find the beach. When it comes to seaside resorts, Vendee is the second most popular tourist destination in France, adjacent to the beautiful Atlantic coastline, this area is endowed with a mild climate and salty air. Vendee is a sparsely populated department, but in the summer the population increases tenfold. This is because the area has a mild climate, 250 km of coastline and sandy beaches, the diversity of stunning landscapes as well as the warm welcome of the natives .

The Noirmoutier island can be reached via a bridge (like the Ré Island and Oléron island) but also by a tidal causeway called the "passage de Gois", road passable at low tide, either on foot, bike or car, it is flooded twice a day by the high tide – water depths vary from 1 to 4 meters-.

Note: every year in June, a foot race of 4,5 km is held across the Passage du Gois, it starts when the tide is not over ! Often, some competitors reach the goal with water up to their ankles and some of them are forced to swim !

Yeu island: reached only by helicopter or by ferry from Fromentine or Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie (you can get special rates at the reception of the Camping Riez à la vie). It's one of those islands sparsely populated (less than 5000 inhabitants), sunny and peaceful, full of wilderness, authenticity and charm. The most visited monument in the island is certainly the church of "Notre Dame de la Bonne Nouvelle" ( Our Lady of Good News), set in the south of the island, at the Port de la Meule, known for a long time as pirate's lair.

One of Vendée's main attractions, is the historical theme park "Puy du Fou" (hill of the beech): the ideal place for history fans where they can enjoy majestic shows over 23 hectares; featuring professional actors and actresses on a huge outdoor stage telling the story of life in Vendée, from the Gallic war to the 100 years war, it can be described as: imposing, gigantic, amazing!
